Sales Director of Flexible Packaging

Reports to: Vice President of Sales

Position Summary

The Sales Director of Flexible Packaging is responsible for driving the company's revenue growth through a proactive, strategic sales approach within the Flexible Packaging market. This role focuses on contract manufacturing and equipment sales involving laser cutting, scoring, perforating, and venting technologies for convenient easy-open, breathable, and microwaveventing packaging applicatdions.

The Sales Director builds and sustains senior-level customer relationships, develops new market segments, manages key accounts, and ensures customer expectations are consistently exceeded in cost, quality, and delivery performance.

Job Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Business Development

  • Own and grow assigned and developed key accounts through regular customer engagement and strategic account planning.
  • Identify, develop, and secure large, long-run customer programs within targeted contract manufacturing markets.
  • Proactively pursue new market opportunities and expand applications for laser cutting and scoring technologies.
  • Maintain an active pipeline by tracking opportunities, quotes, and forecasts in Salesforce.
  • Contact prospective and inactive customers to generate new business and gather market intelligence.

Customer & Account Management

  • Conduct regular cost, quality, and delivery (CQD) reviews with key customers on a quarterly or semi-annual basis.
  • Partner with customers to assess application suitability and recommend optimal technical solutions.
  • Monitor product life cycle status for key accounts and drive continuous improvement initiatives as appropriate.
  • Lead customer demonstrations, process development trials, and technical presentations.

Quoting, Pricing & Forecasting

  •  Prepare accurate estimates and quotations using customer drawings, samples, specifications, or verbal descriptions, collaborating with engineering, programming, production, and quality teams.
  • Develop job-specific pricing strategies and contribute to broader business unit pricing plans.
  • Generate accurate sales forecasts and manage revenue expectations.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Lead cross-functional project teams, including meeting facilitation, documentation, and scheduling.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on ease of doing business and customer satisfaction.
  • Support and mentor sales engineers; review and validate team quotations.
  • The position requires working closely with Production, Customer Service, and Quality.

Marketing & Industry Engagement

  • Develop and execute proactive marketing programs in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing and advertising materials, including campaigns and literature.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, customer facilities, and industry events.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Maintain accurate customer records, files, and lead management data within CRM and marketing systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial sales, technical sales, or related manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales and growth objectives.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and purchase agreements.
  • Working knowledge of laser processing technologies, CNC programming, and dimensional tolerancing.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and capable of working independently.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel approximately 30–50% within the assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a technical or business-related field.
  • Experience in the Flexible Packaging market, including laser scoring, perforating, cutting, and slitting applications.
  • Background in flexible packaging converting including printing, laminating, die cutting or related manufacturing environments.
  • Existing network of contacts within the Flexible Packaging industry.
