Senior Accountant

Position Title: Senior Accountant
Department: Finance/Accounting
Reports to: VP of Finance & Accounting

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations, managing financial reporting, analyzing financial data, and providing strategic insights to support business decision-making. They will use their background in accounting principles, financial analysis, and experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP standards.
  2. General Ledger Management: Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintenance of accurate financial records.
  3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, providing variance analysis and insights to support financial planning.
  4. Cost Analysis: Conduct cost accounting activities, analyzing manufacturing costs, variances, and profitability to optimize operational efficiency.
  5. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory transactions, reconcile inventory accounts, and perform periodic inventory audits to ensure accuracy.
  6. Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis to identify trends, assess financial performance, and provide actionable management insights.
  7. Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax filings, and internal control procedures.
  8. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency enhancements, and automation within the finance function.
  9. Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams including operations, sales, and procurement to support business objectives and initiatives.
  10. Ad-hoc Projects: Support special projects, financial audits, and other ad-hoc assignments as required.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • A strong background in manufacturing accounting practices and percentage of completion revenue recognition is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present financial information to stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • Finance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is ideal.

Physical Demands

  • Working in an office environment.
  • Sitting and/or standing for long periods of time (2-4 hours before a rest or change).
  • Occasional squatting, kneeling, twisting, rotating.
  • Excellent eyesight and hearing.
  • Constant hand use, grasping, and fine manipulation throughout the day.
  • Lift 40 pounds comfortably.

Education

Hiring Wage

$75 - $100K Salary

Based on experience and skill
