Position Title: Production Lead 1st & 3rd Shift
Department: Contract Manufacturing Services Production
Reports to: Shift Supervisor

Position Summary

The Production Lead is responsible for maintaining continuous CMS production operations by ensuring that jobs are run efficiently and may oversee the scheduling of people and equipment to keep work flowing.   The Production Lead is to be a point of contact for anyone on shift for questions or direction as well as work with the department Supervisor on issues, nightly status updates, and ideas to improve efficiency. 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that materials, tooling, and information are prepared for production staff.
  2. Support the production staff by keeping systems running.  Additionally, transport finished goods, stage input materials, and cover for breaks.
  3. Provide work direction and training for production workers. Give input on performance reviews, coaching, etc.
  4. Verify that orders are complete and ready to be shipped.
  5. Complete documentation, pack parts in an appropriate and timely manner, report time and quantity correctly, complete product labels, and stage for shipping.
  6. Review all NMRs and work with different departments to determine the root cause.
  7. Assure the production team is performing line cleanout and work cell cleanup before the next job.
  8. Review time reporting and efficiency of shift production staff.
  9. Work with shift Laser Applications Technicians (LATs) to resolve any issues and get the system back in production. Communicate with other shifts and leads for additional support if issues are not resolved.
  10. Train, mentor, and support production personnel on safety procedures and work efficiency.
  11. Take direction from the Supervisor regarding shift priorities.
  12. Facilitate shift changeovers.
  13. Ensure and maintain part quality to job run specifications.
  14. Set up and manage long and short-run production jobs.
  15. Handles minor maintenance and systems checks.
  16. Responsible for facility lock up and shutdown of unused laser systems.
  17. Responsible for employees that are in the building during an emergency (i.e. fire, tornado, etc.).
  18. Maintain a safe, positive, and productive work environment for employees.
  19. Required to communicate in-person or by written/email on personal issues or concerns of production to support team and facility at the end of shift.
  20. Other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of supervisory or lead work experience responsible for staff in automated production equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or coursework in Management, Business, or Leadership.
  • Working knowledge of QMS, ISO, and SQF.
  • Exposure to or completion of formal business courses beyond the high school level.

Physical Demands

  • Working in an industrial environment.
  • Sitting and/or standing for long periods of time (2-4 hours before a rest or change).
  • Occasional squatting, kneeling or climbing.
  • Excellent eyesight and hearing.
  • Constant hand use, grasping, and fine manipulation throughout the day.
  • Lift 40 pounds comfortably.
  • Lifting 51+ pounds sporadically throughout the day and may be done with assistance.

Hiring Wage

$22 - $25 / hr

Based on experience and skill.
