Position Title: Material/Inventory Specialist II
Department: Purchasing/Material
Reports to: Shipping & Inventory Supervisor
Position Summary
Responsible for accurately transacting inventory through receipts, issues, cycle counting, and physical inventories. Stocks and picks parts on schedule to meet demands for the floor and individual inventory transfers. Assists in cost-effective inventory management and prevention of stock-outs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of material transactions on the computerized manufacturing system.
- Assist with filing of assorted forms (i.e. purchase orders, transfer tickets and requisitions).
- Identify and document non-conforming products.
- Determines the method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Receives, stocks, and picks inventory for issuance to the floor or requisitioner.
- Operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
- Assist in training and mentoring others in the department.
- Performs cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure on-hand accuracies & problem-solving.
- Provides clerical assistance to Purchasing Manager as requested.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming & outgoing shipments.
- Count, weigh, and measure items for incoming & outgoing shipments. Verify against BOL, invoices, and packing slips.
- Other job duties as assigned by the supervisor, which may include support to other departments within Preco.
Job Requirements
- High school or GED.
- Ability to learn computer software for inventory control.
- Aptitude for numbers.
- Accuracy and good organizational skills.
- Work attendance and (possible) overtime during the last two weeks of the calendar year for the annual physical inventory.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of computerized manufacturing and inventory software experience.
- Shipping and receiving experience.
Physical Demands
- Sitting and standing for long periods.
- Repetitive motion with keyboarding.
- Frequent lifting up to 70 pounds.
- Forklift and pallet jack operation
