Laser Technician I

Position Title: Laser Technician I
Department: Contract Manufacturing Services
Reports to: Production Supervisor

Position Summary

Set up and run laser systems to process customer parts/product, assuring maximum safety and efficiency.  Inspect parts to verify conformance to customer specifications.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Set up and operate custom-designed/standard laser machinery to process customer parts/products per customer specifications, using previously set parameters.
  2. Perform more detailed quality inspections of finished products, using various measuring tools.
  3. Start up and shut down systems.
  4. Perform necessary PMs.
  5. Perform beam delivery.
  6. Calibrate galvos.
  7. Troubleshoot system issues.
  8. Train operators.
  9. Use Excel and Word frequently.
  10. On-call technical support per the on-call policy.
  11. Complete all necessary paperwork whether it be hard copy or electronic.
  12. Follow and assist in creating work instructions.
  13. Package parts and route to shipping.
  14. Perform work cell clean-up as required.

Job Requirements

  • High school education or GED required. 2-year technical degree preferred.
  • Computer skills i.e., Microsoft Office, CAD a plus.
  • Strong math aptitude.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of industrial experience.
  • Able to safely drive a forklift.
  • Excellent eyesight and hearing.

Physical Requirements

  • Working in an industrial environment.
  • Sitting and/or standing for long periods of time (2-4 hours before a rest or change).
  • Occasional squatting, kneeling or climbing.
  • Constant hand use, grasping, and fine manipulation throughout the day.
  • Lift 40 pounds comfortably.
  • Lifting 51+ pounds sporadically throughout the day and may be done with assistance.
