Managing Director of Converting

Position Summary

The Managing Director – Converting is responsible for leading strategic sales and business development efforts focused on converted parts, contract manufacturing solutions, and die cutting equipment sales. This role will drive growth through Preco’s “2 Paths to Production” program by developing relationships with OEMs, converters, and raw material manufacturers.

The position is responsible for managing key customer accounts, identifying and securing new business opportunities, and supporting long-term market expansion initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical sales expertise, leadership capabilities, and knowledge of converting and die cutting technologies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with established key accounts.
  • Conduct quarterly or semi-annual customer reviews focused on cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Lead new business development activities and proactively pursue growth opportunities.
  • Present and promote Preco’s “2 Paths to Production” program to prospective and existing customers.
  • Identify product lifecycle status within key accounts and position Preco for next-generation products and redesign opportunities.
  • Develop and secure large-scale, long-term customer accounts within targeted Contract Manufacturing Services (CMS) markets.
  • Contact prospective and inactive customers to generate new opportunities and gather market intelligence.
  • Participate in trade shows, customer visits, and industry events to promote Preco’s capabilities.

Sales & Quotation Management

  • Generate accurate sales forecasts and maintain pipeline visibility.
  • Provide estimates and quotations based on customer drawings, sketches, specifications, sample parts, or verbal descriptions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and programming teams to develop technical and commercial solutions.
  • Develop pricing structures for projects and assist with broader business unit pricing strategies.
  • Actively track open quotations, opportunities, and prospect activities using CRM and lead management systems.

Operational & Technical Leadership

  • Oversee and monitor customer-related cost, quality, and delivery metrics.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing the customer experience and ease of doing business with Preco.
  • Participate in the resolution of major quality concerns and customer escalations.
  • Assist customers in determining product and application suitability.
  • Organize and lead sales presentations, process demonstrations, and technical reviews.
  • Lead project teams by coordinating meetings, schedules, communications, and deliverables.
  • Train and mentor sales engineers, including review and support of quotations.

Marketing & Strategic Initiatives

  • Execute proactive marketing programs.
  • Assist in the design and development of advertising and promotional materials.
  • Support strategic market expansion initiatives and identify emerging opportunities within target industries.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. 

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of industrial sales experience in the die cutting industry.
  • Strong understanding of technical sales processes and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, purchase orders, and technical documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/business software systems.
  • Knowledge of laser processing, die cutting technologies, CNC programming, and dimensional tolerancing.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25–50%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in the die cutting industry using adhesives, foams, and films, along with relationships with these raw material manufacturers.
  • Experience working with OEMs, converters, and raw material manufacturers.

Physical Demands

  • Handling and near vision- over 4 hours a day.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs., talking, hearing, and working alone 3-5 hours a day.
